THE BETTY BOOKS
By Alice Hale Burnett
Notes
Titles
Four very interesting stories, each complete in itself, relating the many doings of Betty and her friends. The characters are real girls and the happy, healthful tone lends the books additional charm.
-- from a Saalfield advertisement
The "Betty books" were originally published by the New York Book Co. in the late 'teens, then were reprinted by Saalfield in the 1920's. I'm not sure of the order for the last two books in the series. Publishing dates are incomplete.
BETTY AND HER CHUMS-- Amy and Louise visit Betty and the three girls spend a happy summer together. A picnic summer on the mountaintop, at sunset, furnishes much pleasurable excitement for a large party of girls and boys. -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1917, New York Book. 1927, Saalfield.
BETTY'S ATTIC THEATRE -- With the help of their friends Betty, Amy and Louise give a play which is full of laughable mishaps. They have lots of fun getting ready for the big event and it is voted a huge success. -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1917, New York Book. 1927, Saalfield.
BETTY'S CARNIVAL -- The girls give an affair for the benefit of the Fresh Air Fund. Decorated floats sent down the river and viewed by the audience seated on the shore. A lemonade and cake booth also help to make the affair a most enjoyable one. -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1927, Saalfield.
BETTY'S ORPHANS -- Betty and her two chums entertain three little orphans in her country home. The city waifs find much to surprise and amuse them, and to their great joy all of them are finally adopted in pleasant homes. -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1917. New York Book Co.
BETTY'S HOLIDAYS -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1927, Saalfield.
BETTY AND THE RED CROSS -- illustrated by Charles Lester. 1919, New York Book Co.
