Twin orphans Patty and Jo, placed at Miss Langton's School for Young Ladies by their misogynistic guardian -- whom they have never met -- receive an invitation to spend Christmas vacation at his remote estate. When arrive, they find that he has mysteriously disappeared. They stumble onto him and reunite him with the conveniently-widowed woman who broke his heart years before; the happy couple adopt the orphan twins and everyone lives happily ever after.
